PREPARING FOR SENIOR YEAR

- Make appointment to see counselor: Review your transcript & graduation plan.
- Register for the SAT and/or ACT as.
- Search college list: prepare for early application if needed
- Write, call or email for catalogs/view books and application.
- Plan college visits and interviews.
- Visit Career Cruising to investigate special programs.
- Use Khan Academy on College Board to prepare for the upcoming in-school SAT exam.
- Participate in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program at your school if interested in exploring careers or if planning to join the military.
- Starting fall 2019, become familiar with the new Advanced Placement participation process at your campus.
October
- Request official test scores from College Board or ACT to be sent to the schools on your list. (Remember, there may be a cost associated with these requests.)
- Develop resume, portfolio, audio/videotape or other appropriate reflection of special talent, as advised.
- Update, Revise, or Draft your college essays.
- Plan college visits and interviews (remember your thank you letters).
- Ask teachers for recommendations following school procedures.
- Check for college representative visits on your campus.
- Attend Financial Aid Night.
- Visit area College Fairs.
- Attend your campus College Night.
- Take SAT's and/or ACT's if applicable.
- Fill out Transcript Release Form and return to registrar.
- Check the Career Cruising Profile
- Check your high school counseling center for scholarships.
- Use your campus Go Center for additional resources.
- Check for additional available dates to take or retake the SAT and/or ACT exams.
- Keep organized and up to date!
- Attend your campus College Night.
- Request transcripts from registrar 4 - 6 weeks before application deadlines.
- Revise essay, gather information for resume, and other information to prepare for the college application process

- Scholarship search: Counselor office or online
- Talk with graduates who are home from college.
SPRING SEMESTER
January
- Meet with counselor: Review fall semester grades & transcript
- Submit mid-year grade request forms.
- Take the SAT and/or ACT as needed.
- Check/Apply for private outside scholarships.
- Check deadlines for AP Tests.
- Maintain a rigorous academic schedule and involvement in your last semester.
- Keep checking the counseling center for scholarship lists.
- Visit college campuses either virtually online or in person.
- Review your college preferences with parents and counselors.
- Decide what colleges you wish to visit
- Take AP Exams
- Transcript request -review with counselor
- Attend College Summer Orientation
